A blank Canvas for Creativity

At The Globe at Hay, community and creativity are at the heart of everything we do; and our venue is designed to bring people together through art, ideas, and shared experiences.

Our unique venue—set within a beautifully converted chapel—offers a striking backdrop for exhibitions. With double-height ceilings, Georgian features, and vintage architecture, it balances rich character with being a versatile, gallery-ready space.

We showcase a dynamic mix of artists, celebrating bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and the creativity thriving in our community. Whether you’re just here to discover and enjoy, or to take a piece home, there's something for everyone in our thriving arts centre.

Current Exhibitions

James Mason

James Mason is an artist, photographer and professional musician, based in Hereford, UK. He studied art in Hereford, taking inspiration from the world-famous Wye Valley, its nature and landscapes, specialising in fine detail ink drawing.

Since retiring as a commercial photographer, James has reignited his passion for art, namely abstract. James has a held a number of exciting solo exhibitions, including The Courtyard (Hereford), Freud - Shaftesbury Avenue (London) and an exhibition alongside the world’s richest living artist, Damien Hirst.

Now bringing a small and intimate collection - Revelations to The Globe, each painting is truly unique. We hope that you enjoy his work and the chance to own his one-off, bright and vibrant, statement pieces.

Rosie Daffern

Daffern's deep connection with the natural world developed during her teenage years spent exploring local wildlife. From a very young age, she invented her own worlds and stories - which are still at the heart of her work today.

Her exhibition pieces are windows into her post-apocalyptic dreams. She has a deep fascination with a world that remains after human civilisation has fallen, where strange beings and mischievous characters roam a vast landscape.

Colin Rose

From his first exhibition in London in 1966 to his last one in the Czech Republic in 2018, He had painted privately without fanfare. Struggling to verbalise the thoughts that close in on him; therefore, he worked slowly, sifting, revising, discarding, and hesitantly trying to open up to himself those fleeting ideas.

The structure of music, nature, mythology and echoes of art history, from this and much more, he weaves a dense web. Give them time, and they might grow to like you! His paintings are held in collections both privately and publicly in Europe and the USA. Now he has put together a selection for this exhibition at The Globe, all painted since 2018.

Previous Exhibitions

Gill Perkins

Perkin's lifelong love of photography, and her affinity for the countryside and animals is demonstrated in the mood of her artful photographs. She has been using her computer skills to transform photos into professional artist-like sketches, watercolours, and oil painting type effects - that people can’t believe are photos!

This exhibition presents a stunning portfolio of photographs; with some of the most stunning images from her recent trip to see the Camargue horses in France. The photographs are available to purchase as prints, cards, coasters, placements, bookmarks, mugs and more. You can also request Gill to transform a picture for you.

Veronica Guest & Clare Keil

Guest's watercolours and etchings depict both broad swathes of landscape and the vivid details, of plants, birds and animals, perceived from the unique points of view afforded by life on her small farm in the Wye Valley.

Keil is a furniture designer interested in the visual qualities of objects and spaces. This exhibition will show a range of steam bent wood furniture, made from locally grown copice wood.
