Glen Manby Quartet

Glen Manby (alto saxophone) works primarily in straight ahead modern acoustic jazz.His main influences are Charlie Parker, Sonny Stitt, and Phil Woods.  In 1997 he was awarded a scholarship to study on the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at The New School in New York's Greenwich Village.​His saxophonist teachers have included Grant Stewart, Dick Oatts, Chico Freeman, George Garzone, George Robert, Mike Karn, Jamie Talbot, Tim Garland, Iain Ballamy, Geoff Simkins, and Osian Roberts.

John-Paul Gard (piano) started playing Hammond organ at the age of 10, influenced by his late father who was an organ player and music enthusiast. John-Paul’s recent credits are appearing with his own band John-Paul Gard Trio, and John-Paul Gard Solo, but also with The Ben Waghorn Trio,  The Becky Biggins Band, and has  appeared with The Kim Cypher Band, The Eddie Martin band (Blues) The Lee Goodall Trio, Mike Britton Trio, The Esmond Selwyn Organ Trio with Esmond Selwyn (Guitar) and Robin Jones (Drums). He is currently part of is The Jon Dalton Organ Trio based in Venice Beach USA. He has also appeared on over 40 albums with various artists. 

John Gibbon (drums), originally from Abergavenny but now a resident of Hay-on Wye, has been involved in the Jazz scene since his youth, and for many years ran the now legendary jazz night clubs “Gibbs” in both Abergavenny and Cardiff, which showcased the great acts of the day. John has toured the world, being much in demand for his jazz drumming skills. He set up Black Lion Jazz in Hay, where for several years he has been leading his trio every Friday night. 

Nick Kacal (double bass) Originally from Trinidad, he is currently resident in London. Originally a guitarist and electric bassist, the involvement with the Manchester jazz scene led to him discovering the double bass as his instrument of choice. After studying with Tony Hougham, the principle bass of the Covent Garden Opera, he moved to London and became a full time musician in 1998. Since then he has played as a sideman on the London music scene playing predominantly jazz and acoustic folk, occasionally touring to places such as Cape Verde, France and Spain.  He formed his own group, Guerillasound, releasing a CD in 2008 and touring successfully in Japan.
